Ariens is looking for a self-starting, motivated Technical Writer intern looking for practical hands-on experience.  The Technical Writer Intern develops and edits technical materials and communications for product owner’s manuals, product installation sheets, work instructions and related publications for outdoor power equipment. This is the perfect opportunity to enhance your education with practical hands-on experience to prepare you for your future.  At Ariens “Our Legacy is Your Future.”

In this internship you will gain experience with:

  • Overall make up of all of the products
  • Creating and producing manuals

You will be exposed to:

  • Solidworks Modeling
  • Solidworks Composer
  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Sharepoint


  1. Interview personnel.
  2. Assemble/dismantle/install product.
  3. Observe production and developmental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
  4. Operate product.
  5. Observe and perform procedures related to the product and product maintenance.
  6. Study bill of material, parts lists, engineering drawings, safety standards and any other relevant documents.
  7. Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
  8. Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
  9. Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
  10. Create and/or select and modify photos, drawings, charts and diagrams.
  11. Illustrate documents
  12. Perform layout of material for publication.
  13. Prepare files for distribution to printer.

Job Requirements


  • Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited university studying toward an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, communication, illustration, design or related field
  • Must have completed the sophomore year (or equivalent for Associate program candidates) in the major program of study
  • Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0/4.0
