We are currently seeking a high-caliber Process Manufacturing Engineer - Machining for our offices in Brillion, WI.  This is an engineering position which will train, support, document and help direct lead all Machining operations within Ariens Operations.  The person in this position will provide training, programing, set-up and occasionally operate computer numerical control (CNC) and some conventional, special purpose machines and machining centers. Technical expertise and competence along with manufacturing innovation will be the primary goals of this position.

The day to day...

  • Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend, create and edit existing CNC programs for various machines, process, and parts.
  • Maintains machining documentation of procedures, process adjustments and process control procedures.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Has the ability to operate, set-up and instruct operators on equipment such as multi-spindle CNC machines, mills, lathes, drill presses, cut-off saws roll form and other automated equipment.
  • Leads machining training efforts Across Ariens Company Brillion Operations in Conjunction with existing operators/machinists.
  • Supports the investigation, evaluation and purchasing of new machining processes and equipment through the Ariens capital expenditure process.
  • Works with equipment and tooling suppliers to maintain a high level of equipment functionality.
  • Helps drive cost improvements through work with tooling suppliers ML, and engineers.
  • Helps drive cost improvements through work with tooling suppliers, Manufacturing Leaders, and engineers.
  • Provides machining technical expertise to design & research engineering groups as requested.
  • Provides machining troubleshooting assistance to machinist, manufacturing leads, maintenance, and engineering groups.
  • Responsible for assisting in the development, monitoring and purchasing gauges required for SPC of critical processes. Trains others in the proper use of gauging.
  • Monitors and helps to drive proper PM of equipment. Tracks completion progress and helps to drive improvement.

Job Requirements

The Qualifications...

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 5-10 years of job related experience OR a completed Journeyman Machinist Apprenticeship with 3-5 years of related experience 
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and implement continuous improvement projects in order to achieve value stream goals.
  • Solid Works or equivalent CAD experience preferred. Must demonstrate attention to detail and be able to integrate new and old equipment designs and layouts.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, CAD drawings, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to employees, management, and/or public groups.
  • Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, or drawing form; and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
