We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Brillion, Wisconsin. This engineering position requires a B.S.-level degree and 7 or more years of relevant experience. A Senior Mechanical Engineer will work independently on complete projects of high complexity. A Senior Mechanical Engineer may lead other team members in projects related to specific technical areas of which they are considered the expert. Technical expertise and competence along with continuous product innovation will be the primary goals of this position. A Staff Engineer may be a technical expert in a specialty area(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  2. Develops and supplies technical information to other groups as required. These groups would include Design, Tooling, Sourcing, Testing, Analysis, Manufacturing Engineering, Tech Pubs, Industrial Design.
  3. Documents and presents technical information and arguments during design reviews
  4. Helps develop innovation/learning test plans with Testing Manager.
  5. Writes test requests and model shop requests for work done to support innovation and learning projects and subsystem development for NPD projects.
  6. Works with other groups – Manufacturing Engineers, Tooling, Sourcing on DFM/DFA of components and assemblies.
  7. Gives periodic presentations of innovation projects to platform managers, marketing managers, executives, etc.
  8. Performs engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned.
  9. Prepares, secures and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information, and writes appropriation requests.
  10. Investigates problems and requirements of assigned projects and develops plans for solutions in line with established project objectives.
  11. Develops innovative solutions to design problems considering customer needs.
  12. Develops innovative technology concepts into prototypes and test pieces to determine viability.
  13. Supports and leads multiple projects concurrently.
  14. May lead sub-groups of engineers and designers in developing technology in defined sub-systems that support NPD and Innovation activities.
  15. Leads technical design reviews related to all assigned projects.
  16. Participates in technical design reviews related to technology and sub-systems that will be used on assigned platform and innovation projects.
  17. Completes professional engineering assignments of broad scope.
  18. Exercises discretion as to personal work details.
  19. May mentor other team members on specific technology in which they are considered an expert.
  20. May delegate tasks to other engineers.
  21. May manage a technical specialty area.
  22. Readily identifies and applies technical tools/disciplines.

Job Requirements

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B. S.) from a four-year accredited institution with the focus being relevant to the job requirements of the technical team he/she is assigned to (example: Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) and 7 or more years of experience.
  • Competencies:
    • Demonstrated ability to complete complex engineering assignments and technical projects while working independently or as the leader of a sub-team.
    • Ability to successfully lead several project efforts concurrently.
    • Ability to perform engineering calculations and to use and understand engineering tools such as FEA, CFD, etc. to solve engineering problems.
    • May be considered an expert in one or multiple technology areas relevant to the company’s products.
    • May be considered an expert mentor.
